Enabling digital transformation to increase agility for an energy firm

For just over 5 years, we’ve seen the digital age exponentially evolve and accelerate digital transformation. This client understood that they needed to move with this drastic shift to ultimately increase agility, streamline operations and improve efficiency. They entrusted TekXera to build a plan and help this organisation execute it.

The challenge

The client reached out to TekXera with the hopes of receiving professional advice and direction in enhancing their assets, such as a mobility solution, asset meter and start meter. They acknowledged just how important digital transformation was and how, as a byproduct of it, would ultimately result in greatly increased agility, streamlined operations and improved efficiency, all of which are ingredients in success.

 

With such a severe lack of innovation, this client had significant issues such as slow and inefficient process execution, wasting internal resources and losing market share. TekXera stepped in to eliminate these issues.

 

The solution

With any digital transformation project, we first approach with a period of analysis and planning. This fundamentally allows us to identify key gaps and build a strategy from that. Additionally, we utilised a business analyst (scrum master/BABOK specialist) as a continued resource throughout this project.

First, we like to understand what the client requires from any digital transformation within their organisation and how they envision it. This allows a discussion to refine our future approach based on realistic outcomes.

 

Scope refinement, UAT plan review and execution

Based on the information provided by the client, we refined the requirements, demonstrated how the period of testing and QA would work and showcased the functionality of business functions and operations so that the client knew how the project would be carried out.

 

Enhancement scoping

This involved planning the project, identifying key areas for improvement and providing an audit while assessing the outcomes.

 

Business analysis planning and monitoring

By analysing the data we identified during enhancement scoping, we’re able to determine where and what requires changes. This is the phase where we build an end-to-end strategy.

 

Solution design and delivery

Executing our strategy, we focus on resolving the identified issues and integrating new technological solutions that align with the client’s vision and business objectives.

 

The results

TekXera conducted a project elicitation, scope definition workshop and rationalised agile delivery methods, as well as giving required training to project stakeholders, to ensure they had a sufficient level of understanding of the new systems they had in place, and how best they could utilise them.
